Annie Easley (1933-2011) was an African-American computer scientist, mathematician, and rocket scientist. She worked for NASA and its predecessor NACA, and was a leading member of the software development team for the Centaur rocket stage. During her 34-year career, Easley’s work helped to lay the technological foundations for launches of communication, military, and weather satellites.
